Case Study

The Fulfilment Store (now known as mda®) is a large-scale e-commerce application for business-to-business trading between multiple brands and companies. The XMLi5 system's primary function is to talk to mda's IBM i back-office systems for stock levels and order information, but another major aspect of the work for mda is the administrative system and the user interfaces for each of the child brands and companies that comprise the application's users.

Users log in to the application and are automatically provided a UI tailored to, and restricted by, their membership type. Members of specific companies can access their company's stock and order what they need, while administrators can access global features such as user membership types, trade-pricing settings and the web application/taxonomy settings.

The mda application represents a specific use-case for the multi-website functionality of the XMLi5 system, as each company in the system we built and maintain for mda is technically a website in its own right.

The application is fully integrated (in real-time) with their stock and warehousing systems running “Wavelength” on an IBM i
