Lec do not sell directly online but they wanted to give their customers the ability to order accessories for their products, as well as expand their sales to include surplus stock and their consumers to include affiliated partners.
We were chosen to develop the online outlet store because of our in-depth knowledge of Lec's back-office systems, based on IBM iSeries hardware and GEAC's System/21 software.
Product information, prices, stock levels and model/spare-part associations are pulled from the back-office system and transformed to the web application. All orders are then returned to the back-office system for fulfilment and invoicing. Specific customer pricing and delivery estimates according to postcode are fully supported.
As with its siblings, Lec has proven very successful over the years in which it is successfully operated, and will soon be upgraded into single online store which will also offer a cookshop, like the Belling Cookshop. This refresh will coincide with a responsive/mobile-friendly front-end in the near future.
