Britannia do not sell directly online, but they identified the need to offer their customers the ability to order spare parts and accessories for their appliances.
XMLi5 was chosen to build, supply and host the web application due of their in-depth knowledge of IBM i (iSeries, AS/400) midrange computer systems, upon which their back-office system (GEAC System/21) relies.
Product information, prices, stock levels and model/spare-part associations are extracted from the back-office system and Interfaced to the web application. Customer orders are then returned to the back-office system for picking, dispatch and invoicing. Complex customer pricing/promotions and delivery calculations by postcode are fully supported.
To date, the website has been very successful, and GDHA also use this solution for their other brands: Stoves, New World, and Lec, Belling and Home Appliance Care.
